Inventor of the Cleanroom Passes Away

The man who figured out the basic mechanics of how critical environments run today passed away last month at the age of 92.

Willis Whitfield, a scientist at Sandia National Laboratory, created an “ultra-clean room” in 1962 that utilized circulating air and gravity that represents the first modern cleanroom that allowed electronics to develop to the point they have reached today.
